I have installed electronic immobilizer
www.vamsystem.com for 3 weeks now. I picked 'VAM R1 + Acoustic' variant, that's immobilizer + sound alarm connected to engine lid and tilt sensor ~ 700 EUR.
It's convenient to use and from my findings I am not able to recognize which wires are from VAM and which are original from Toyota so that's good job. It should block around 5 various elements in the car typically start unit, main ecu, engine ecu some engine sensors etc... and from my understanding this immobilizer does not have single central module which would be easily attacked or replaced and each car does have different set of blocked elements.
Of course it needs some courage to hand over new car to relatively small company where they will disassemble & assemble it to do all necessary electrical wiring within 5 hour of time but now I sleep very well
(although everything is insured).
